An Oasis
Yesterday, I sat in a crowd of thousands of new students who have made the commitment of studying life from God’s point of view. Sure, not all of them are quite as serious about their goals as I am, (some of them are more), but after seven years working in the secular world, it’s like coming to an oasis in a very dry desert. While God has blessed me with great Christian friends, I have also learned what it means to stand alone in faith. I am now blessed and thrilled with the opportunity to study and grow in such a strong Christian environment.

THOMAS! I am so excited for you! I have to say that the speaker at our new church(our pastor was on vacation)spoke about 'Mirage vs Oasis' yesterday! Basically uncovering some false beliefs about what being a Christian is. He spoke about an atheist friend of his that is in the coast guard with him. His wife hasn't budged-she used to be a very dedicated 'church goer' and then she met her husband. But now her husband is very interested in what the speaker has to say and tells him to 'turn on some of that Christian rock, I like that stuff' lol! So it was a very powerful message. I know that's 'SLIGHTLY' off topic. However, I know what you mean in your blog. I would go to school, day in, day out. With only a handful of Christians at my school that were really on fire. And then during the summer, I'd go to places like campmeeting and the Alive Festival, and see all those people praising God. It was so awesome I only wished it would be like that everywhere. But I know that sometimes we do have to stand alone...that's not as easy. But of course that's where God gives us strength. I just sometimes find myself struggling to reach out and grab it in the middle of all the non-believers. Please pray for me that God gives me the words to say. Also that the people will see Him through me and in my everyday life.
